Is Lake St. Louis Stocked with Fish?

Yes, both Lake Ste. Louise and Lake St. Louis are stocked yearly, and habitat is laid yearly as well.

How many times has Lake St. Louis been stocked?

Lake Ste. Louise, the small lake, was initially stocked in July 1967 by the Missouri Conservation Commission and has been stocked 29 times in total.

Lake St. Louis, the big lake, was originally stocked in November 1970 and has been stocked 36 times in total.

*There was a spring and fall stocking for 2022 and 2023. We’ve counted these as individual stocking events but grouped the amount of fish and price together.

Before Peruque Creek was dammed, there were multiple types of fish coming into Lake St. Louis:

  • 3 types of catfish
  • Largemouth bass
  • Sunfish
  • Crappie
  • Rough fish

Who Stocks Lake St. Louis?

After the MDC stocked both lakes, the Lake St. Louis Community Association or the Lake Saint Louis Anglers undertake any additional stocking.

Here are the dates each lake was stocked. We’ve included the species, amount, cost, and hatchery source:
